Once the sprawling farm of Clement Clarke Moore (best known today as the author of Twas the Night Before Christmas), Chelsea is a vibrant neighborhood where gleaming new apartment buildings stand side-by-side with former warehouses (many now art galleries), factories (including the birthplace of the Oreo cookie), and piers (like the ones in the postcard at left where the Titanic was supposed to dock). This walk traces the neighborhood's development from rural backwater to the home of some of the hottest real estate in town.
This tour lasts approximately two hours and costs a flat fee of $100 for groups of 1-4 people. For parties larger than 4 people, the cost is $25 per person. Please inquire about discounts for student groups or parties larger than 10 people.
